Back Into It

Been a bit quiet the last few weeks, away travelling and so on, but back into it now.

Today I cleared out the aft port quarter of the upper salon, where the original radio gear was located - because in 1958 the radio gear could double as a mooring if needed, it was that big. I have re-run a bunch of cables and outlets and started filling and repairing holes in the timbers. The plan was to line it with teak facing, and so "finish" the upper salon, but then Sharon pitched in: "You could build a big set of lockers in there, it would be great storage."

Naturally, my immediate reaction was, "Bugger that, that sounds like a whole heap of work."  And of course within 60 seconds I had multiple possible designs in my head and now I'm committed to building a big set of lockers.

Just thought I'd post about it, so now I can't back out...

Fill, strip, sand, varnish....and then build some lockers and shelving.

Easter 2018

For Easter Team Kamalii headed off to Great Barrier Island. A disappointing lack of wind was compensated for by some great weather and the chance to head around to the eastern side with it's great beaches. A relaxing weekend - not much sailing, but good fun.
